PatchScript is an educational tool for Australian paramedicine educators and students. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and who else can see it. It describes what the software actually does, in plain terms.
PatchScript is not for real patient care. Never enter real patient information, identifiable clinical details, or anything from a live case. Scenarios are fictional teaching material and the platform is not built to hold health records.
PatchScript is operated by an individual developer in Australia. For any privacy question, correction or deletion request, contact [email protected].
Signing in is handled by Clerk, an authentication provider. When you create an account, Clerk stores your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture as supplied by Google. We do not receive or store your Google password.
Alongside your account we store a role (student or educator) and an approval flag that governs access.
Feedback forms are optional. What is recorded differs by form:
| Form | What is stored | Linked to you? |
|---|---|---|
| Educator feedback | Scenario title, learning objective, ratings, and any written comments | No — submitted anonymously |
| Student feedback | The same, plus your email address | Yes |
Anything you type into a comments box is stored as written, so please don't include personal or clinical details there.
To enforce a fair daily limit on scenario generation, we keep a count of generations per account per day. This is held in memory only and is lost whenever the service restarts. We do not use analytics or advertising trackers, and we do not build usage profiles.
Scenarios and the simulated patient are generated by Anthropic's Claude. Two kinds of content are sent to Anthropic:
Your name, email address and account identifier are not sent to Anthropic. Requests carry the scenario content only. Anthropic processes them under its own terms as our service provider.
Because your typed messages leave our systems, this is the most important place not to enter real patient information.
| Provider | Purpose | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Clerk | Sign-in and account management | Email, name and profile picture, sign-in activity |
| Anthropic | Scenario and patient generation | Scenario content and your typed practice messages |
| Railway | Hosting and storage | Everything the application stores, plus standard server logs |
| Optional sign-in method | Confirms your identity if you choose Google sign-in |
These providers operate internationally, so your information may be processed outside Australia. We do not sell your information, and we do not share it with anyone beyond the providers above.
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct it, or delete your account and associated data. Email [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable period.
You can also sign out at any time, and you are never required to submit feedback to use the tool.
Access to PatchScript requires a signed-in account, and administrative functions are restricted to named administrators. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections. No system is perfectly secure, which is another reason the platform must not be used to hold real patient information.
PatchScript is intended for university students and educators. It is not directed at children.
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes affecting how we handle your information will be communicated to signed-in users.
